It finally happened. After a nine week winning streak, NXT was able to turn the tide and scored more viewers than Dynamite this week. (See graph above.) As usual, though, since Dynamite tends to draw a younger target audience, the AEW show was still able to come out ahead in the 18-49 demographics. Nonetheless, this is still a victory for the black and gold brand. Here are the details.

  • NXT's audience increased yet again this week. It went up from 746,000 last week to 786,000 this week, which consitutes a 5.4% increase. Despite the significant bump in the number of viewers, however, the show's 18-49 demographics rating actually went down slightly. It fell from 0.20 last week to 0.19 this week.

  • In stark contrast to NXT, Dynamite's numbers took a huge tumble this week. The viewership fell a huge 18.0% as its audience fell from last week's 772,000 viewers to this week's 633,000 viewers. Luckily for AEW, the show's 18-49 demographics rating was still able to come in higher than NXT's, although it did fall significantly from last week's 0.28 to this week's 0.22.

The fact that NXT's number went up while Dynamite's went down could be a telling sign of what's to come. Although no specific metric on this can be measured, it is easy to assume that some of NXT's viewers this week came from Dynamite's usual pool of viewers given Dynamite's sharp decrease. So in other words, part of Dynamite's audience purposely chose to switch over to NXT this week. If this is true, it is a clear sign that NXT has the momentum right now. We saw this same phenomenon a few weeks back where Dynamite's audience grew while NXT's shrank. However, in that case, the gap between the two shows' ratings weren't as large as what we are seeing this week. So the WWE show definitely seems to have the upper hand at the moment.

Next week's ratings will prove to be very interesting. On the TNT network, AEW will be presenting their Fyter Fest pay-per-view as a free event over the next two episodes of Dynamite. The announced card is already stacked with one of the highlights being a World Championship match between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage. Not to be outdone, WWE just announced that the next two weeks of NXT are now dubbed "The Great American Bash". A loaded card has been scheduled for this event as well with the main event being a winner-takes-all match between NXT Champion Adam Cole and North American Champion Keith Lee. This sudden announcement is an obviously blantant attempt by WWE to counter AEW's Fyter Fest. Unfortunately for AEW, with NXT's success in the ratings this week, WWE might be able to do exactly that.

Unlike NXT and Dyanmite, Raw and Smackdown's ratings remained pretty much flat this week.

  • Raw saw a very nice jump in the ratings last week. And usually, after a big bump like that, the audience typically drops back off significantly the following week. However, Raw only saw a very small drop of 0.8% this week. (Its viewership fell from 1,938,667 viewers last week to 1,922,333 this week.) This means that Raw was able to retain the large majority of the audience it gained, which is great news for WWE. As for its 18-49 demographics rating, it remains steady at 0.53 for the thrid week in a row.

  • Smackdown's ratings also remained pretty steady as well. The numebr of viewers went up slightly from 2,065,000 last week to 2,072,000 this week. That's a tiny 0.3%. And like Raw, Smackdown's 18-49 demographics rating remained the same for the 3rd consecutive week, staying at 0.5.

With this week's NXT victory, the win-loss record for the two Wednesday night wrestling shows have now changed directions. NXT has finally ended Dynamite's winning streak and will try to start its own. Its record now stands at 6-31-1 for viewership and 1-37 for the 18-49 demographic. This makes Dynamite's win-loss record 31-6-1 for viewership and 37-1 for the 18-49 demographic.
