AEW Dynamite
WWE Smackdown

For the past two weeks, AEW had been on a hot streak with Dynamite's television ratings. However, that came to an abrupt end this week with Dynamite's ratings crashing while NXT's ratings spiked up. Given Dynamite's huge lead in the ratings recently, though, the AEW show was still able to score a 5.2% larger audience than NXT this week, as well as a higher 18-49 demographics rating. Here are the details.

  • Dynamite's ratings dramatically plummetted this week. A decrease is not surprising since the show's ratings have been experiencing a spike during the last two weeks. However, this weeks' viewership ended up falling by an enormous 19.0%, as the size of the audience went down from 995,000 last week to 806,000 this week. The show's 18-49 demographics rating also took a nose dive. It went down from 0.45 last week to 0.32 this week. Among cable television for the night, these ratings placed Dynamite in the #3 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #62 spot for overall viwership.

  • Whereas Dynamite's viewership fell by a giant 19.0%, NXT's grew by almost that much. It went from 659,000 viewers last week to 766,000 viewers this week. That's a giant leap of 16.2%. This suggests that a lot of Dynamite's audience from last week decided to tune into NXT this week instead, a great sign for WWE. The show's 18-49 demographics rating also went up, although it wasn't by as big a margin. It increased from 0.17 last week to 0.19 this week. Among cable television for the night, NXT came in at the #34 spot for the 18-49 demographic and #67 in overall viewership.

While Smackdown's ratings improved this week, Raw's ratings set an all-time record low.

  • Smackdown saw a nice bump in viewership this week. The size of its audience grew from 2,130,000 last week to 2,206,000 this week. That's an increase of 3.6%. And for the third week in a row, Smackdown's 18-49 demographics rating stayed the same at 0.6. As for the show's rankings among network television for the night, they were exactly the same as those from last week. Smackdown once again tied for the #1 spot with Shark Tank in the 18-49 demographic, and it came in at the #8 spot in overall viewership.

  • Raw hit a new all-time low in its ratings this week. Compared to last week, the viewership fell by a massive 12.1%. It dropped from 1,736,667 viewers last week to 1,526,667 viewers this week, making this week's Raw the least watched episode in the show's 27-year history. The show's 18-49 demographics rating didn't fare any better. It dropped from 0.51 last week to 0.41 this week. Interestly, that's actually lower than last week's Dynamite 18-49 demographics rating. Among cable television for the night, Raw came in at #7 for the 18-49 demographic and #31 for overall viewership.

Next Wednesday, TNT will be airing an NBA game during Dynamite's usual 8 PM timeslot. As a result, the AEW show will be pushed back to air directly after that game at approximately 10 PM. This will make the Wednesday Night Wars interesting in that Dynamite and NXT will run unopposed despite being on the same night. Until then, this week's AEW victory puts Dynamite on a winning streak again with three wins in a row in the Wednesday Night Wars. This makes Dyanmite's win-loss record 48-10-1 for viewership and 58-1 for the 18-49 demographic. In turn, NXT's record now stands at 10-48-1 for viewership and 1-58 for the 18-49 demographic.
