This week, Dynamite had an advantage over NXT in that it was presenting Night 2 of its special New Year's Smash episode. As a result, we saw Dynamite pull ahead in the ratings again after last week's narrow victory. Not only did Dynamite score a higher 18-49 demographics rating in this week's Wednesday Night Wars, but it also garnered a 38.3% larger audience than NXT. Here are the details.

  • This week's special episode of Dynamite was clearly reflected in the ratings. The number of viewers jumped by a massive 15.1% this week. It grew from 662,000 viewers last week to 762,000 viewers this week. Dynamite's 18-49 demograhics rating grew by an even bigger margin. It went up from 0.25 last week to 0.3 this week. Among cable television for the night, these ratings placed Dynamite at the #31 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #68 spot for overall viewership.

  • NXT's ratings fell very sharply this week. In fact, this week's viewership reached its lowest level since March 2020. It fell from 641,000 last week all the way to 551,000 this week. That's a huge drop of 14.0%. The show's 18-49 demographics rating also fell by a similar margin. It dropped from 0.16 last week to 0.14 this week. Among cable television for the night, NXT came in at the #70 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #81 spot for overall viewership.

For Smackdown and Raw, both shows' ratings returned to a median level this week.

  • Smackdown saw a decent improvement from its relatively low ratings last week. The size of the audience grew from 2,013,000 viewers last week to 2,120,000 viewers this week, constituting a nice 5.3% increase. Similarly, the show's 18-49 demographics rating improved from 0.53 last week to 0.56 this week. Among network television for the night, Smackdown came in at the #6 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #9 spot for overall viewership.

  • Last week, Raw's ratings shot up thanks to its Legends Night episode. But now that that's over, the show's ratings returned back to its usual levels. The viewership dropped by 14.5%, as it decreased from 2,127,667 last week to 1,819,333 this week. The show's 18-49 demographics rating also fell, as it went down from 0.68 last week to 0.55 this week. Among cable television for the night, Raw dropped down to the #5 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #38 spot for overall viewership.

Next week, both shows will be on equal footing again with the holidays behind us. So it is possible that we will see NXT make a comeback. As for this week, Dynamite's victory extends AEW's winning streak to seven weeks in a row. It also makes Dynamite's win-loss record in the Wednesday Night Wars 52-10-1 for viewership and 62-1 for the 18-49 demographic. In turn, this makes NXT's record 10-52-1 for viewership and 1-62 for the 18-49 demographic.
