Dynamite's ratings took a big hit this week while NXT's actually improved significantly. Fortunately for AEW, though, their sizeable lead in the ratings last week was large enough that Dynamite was still able to come away as the winner in this week's Wednesday Night Wars. But make no mistake; it was very close. Although Dynamite enjoyed a commanding victory in the 18-49 demographic, the difference between the two shows' viewership amounted to only 1.9% in favor of Dynamite. Here are the details.

  • Dynamite's ratings experienced a big boost last week. But this week, they came crashing back down. The viewership fell sharply going from 854,000 last week to 734,000 this week. That's a huge drop of 14.1%. Similarly, the show's 18-49 demograhics also fell sharply. It fell from 0.36 last week to 0.29 this week. Among cable television for the night, Dynamite came in at the #6 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #64 spot for overall viewership.

  • Just like Dynamite, NXT saw a big increase in their ratings last week. But unlike Dynamite, NXT's ratings continued to go up this week. The audience grew by a big 9.3%, as it increased from 659,000 viewers last week to 720,000 viewers this week. NXT's 18-49 demographics rating improved by an even bigger margin. It leaped from 0.15 last week to 0.21 this week. Among cable television for the night, these ratings put NXT at the #24 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #67 spot for overall viewership.

Over on Monday and Friday nights respectively, the size of Raw's and Smackdown's audiences diverged this week, increasing the viewership gap between the two shows.

  • For the third week in a row, the size of Smackdown's audience grew by a very healthy margin. It increased from 2,262,000 viewers last week to 2,383,000 viewers this week. That's a nice bump of 5.3%. However, Smackdown's 18-49 demographics rating actually fell despite the larger audience. It dropped from 0.67 last week to 0.63 this week. Among network television for the night, Smackdown came in at the #2 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #8 spot for overall viewership.

  • Unlike Smackdown, both Raw's viewership and its 18-49 demographics rating decreased this week. The number of viewers went down from 1,854,333 last week to 1,819,333 this week, a small decline of 1.9%. The change in the show's 18-49 demographics rating, on the other hand, was much more drastic percentage-wise. It dropped from 0.60 last week to 0.52 this week. Among cable television for the night, Raw landed in the #1 spot for the 18-49 demographic and the #23 spot for overall viewership.

This week, NXT just fell short of adding a much needed victory to their record in the Wednesday Night Wars. At this rate, NXT has a real shot of overtaking Dynamite next week in terms of viewership. Dynamite will be presenting their special Beach Break episode next week, though, so that most likely won't happen. Regardless, that's next week. For now, Dynamite's winning streak stands at nine weeks in a row, with their win-loss record being 54-10-1 for viewership and 64-1 for the 18-49 demographic. This in turn makes NXT's record 10-54-1 for viewership and 1-64 for the 18-49 demographic.
